I Am Here - Come PlayUnreachable, playful eyes. Leaves on new shoulders, traces of that which was, will be again.Backstory: This piece is about the loss of loved ones and that which transcends and is passed on. It began with the untimely death of our dog who was one of those special beings we have all known. It was a snowy morning which is rare where I live. He would go outside and sit on a raised area with eyes pleading for me to throw a snowball so he could catch it. A few hours later in the park, he collapsed of a massive heart attack and was gone. While away on a business trip the following week, I created the figure which represents those pleading eyes to come play. As the piece developed, it came to represent others lost and the boundary of separation as well as the on-going connections. The tree is actually two trees twisted together. The reference to leaves falling on new shoulders is what we leave behind and what carries on.

The FrameThe frame is crucial to every piece of this series and ties them together. The outer edge has musical notes, in the form of drops, from 4 song writers of social change. These drops of influence, flow into waves and whirlpools - the creative conscience that drives social change. Figures on the inner edge of the frame, represent emancipation from repression moving towards mindfulness.Backstory: Creating Dimensions also refers to the expansion and collaboration of the frame relative to the art. This body of work was started 10 years ago with the goal of creating a frame that would provide physical depth while allowing the art to project out to the viewer. I also wanted the content of the frame to relate to the entire body of work. I thought the frame would take 6 months, it took 6 years. The frame completes each piece and ties them all together.

Find the glow.Backstory: In the early morning at a coffee shop across from the main bus station in Anchorage, I noticed a young girl who seemed to be pleading with her father on her phone. Seemed he did not realize the intensity of her need. After the call, she crawled up on her chair in desperation - the image burned in my mind and I knew it would become a sculpture. I was distracted by a phone call and when I was done, I noticed she was gone. While the piece started as a piece of despair, it ended as a piece of hope. I hope she found some.
